1. What is this probe used for?

It serves as a non-contact sensor to monitor displacement, position, and vibration of rotating machinery such as

turbines, compressors, motors, bearings, and other fluid-film machines.

2. How does it function?

The probe employs eddy-current sensing—it emits an electromagnetic field and detects voltage changes caused

by the distance to a conductive target. That’s how it captures both static and dynamic movement.

3. Is it compatible with older components?

Yes. All parts of the 3300 XL 8 mm system (probes, cables, Proximitor sensors) are backward-compatible

and interchangeable with the older 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm components.

4. What are typical installation features?

The Proximitor sensor supports DIN-rail or panel mounting, and offers enhanced RFI/EMI immunity, reducing need

for special shielding—especially helpful for CE compliance and cost reduction.
